We are a newly engaged couple. How can we work with you?
Congratulations on this exciting time in your lives! The first step will be to schedule a phone call with one of our planners so that we can gather the multitude of details and information in order to create your customized wedding package (hopefully you have visited our Services page by now to become familiar with our offerings). Since every one of the weddings we plan are personalized for each couple, it will take us a few days to compile your package, and we will then send your customized package to you via email for review.
We want the ease of a wedding package, but we don’t want a “cookie cutter” wedding.
You have come to the right place! Our services encompass a two-step process. First, we create a personalized, customized wedding package for every couple we plan with based on your wants and needs…then once your wedding is booked with us, we take it one step further. Your colors, flowers, songs, cake flavors, etc. are all guided by what you want and are your vision. We do not ask you to select from pre-determined designs…instead we design for you based on the inspiration you share with us. To see the many different weddings we have put together please view the weddings in our Portfolio.
We have received our package and everything looks great! How do we book with you?
To officially book your wedding with Oahu Wedding, we require a signed contract and a 50% retainer fee paid via cash, personal check, bank/cashier’s check, or credit card (Visa/Mastercard). There is a 3.5 % processing fee for payments made via credit card. Please note that retainer fees are non-refundable. Final payments are due 30-days prior to your wedding date.
Can you tell us a little about the planning process?
Of course! Once you are officially booked, we will send you some introductory information and set up our first official planning phone call. Following that, we will exchange many emails and will have subsequent phone calls to plan the details of your day. We want you to send us pictures and ideas so that we can gather a sampling of your style in order to design a wedding that reflects your style. We will also create a very detailed time line to be shared with you and all vendors so that your entire wedding team is working in sync. We feel that there is nothing more impersonal than meeting you in-person for the first time when you arrive at your ceremony, therefore we take the time to meet you before your wedding day once you arrive on Oahu.
We are from so far away! How do we know you are a trustworthy and legitimate company?
Oahu Wedding has been recognized and featured by top leader’s in the wedding industry such as Wedding Wire (Couples’ Choice Award 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) and The Knot (Best of Weddings Award 2011, 2012, 2013), where we have been awarded repeatedly year after year for our stellar work. Our weddings have been featured in publications and online via Bride’s magazine, Martha Stewart Destinations, Style Me Pretty Destination, Pacific Weddings, Aisle Planner, and Hawaii Bride and Groom to name a few. We are also an A+ accredited business with the Better Business Bureau, registered as a legitimate business in the State of Hawaii, and carry general liability insurance.
Are you able to guide us through the marriage license process?
We sure are! If you plan on making your Hawaii wedding legal, you must obtain your marriage license in the State of Hawaii. You may pre-apply online from anywhere in the world here, and once you arrive on Oahu, you must appear in person at the Hawaii State Department of Health to verify the information, take an oath, and pick up your official marriage license.
We’ve seen information that chairs, archways, and other structures are not allowed on public beaches, but we find many photos online with these type of set ups. We’re confused!
As of August 2008, the State of Hawaii does not allow any set up of structures on public beaches. There are two exceptions to the rule: guests who are elderly or infirm may have a chair, and one small table 36″ or smaller is allowed. If you come across elaborate set ups depicting chairs and archways, they are either very old pictures or the set up is illegal. Oahu Wedding takes your wedding day seriously and therefore we follow the law so that you may have a seamless wedding day! To reiterate, we will not break the law and set up chairs, archways or other structures on public beaches.
Do you offer full service or month of coordination services?
For full service wedding planning or month of coordination, please visit our sister company Lucia Events.
Do you offer travel, hotel and rental car arrangements?
We are awesome wedding planners and we prefer to focus solely on that. Any travel needs should be handled by the couple or via a travel agent. It’s a good idea to arrive on Oahu at least 2-3 days prior to your wedding date in order to allow for picking up your marriage license and to adjust to the time change.
What is the correct arrival airport?
As there are several Hawaiian islands, it is important to know that we offer our wedding packages solely on Oahu. The proper arrival airport is the Honolulu International Airport, or HNL.
Uh oh! We set our date and booked our wedding with you, but we have an unforeseen circumstance.
Don’t stress! You can reschedule your wedding date pending availability of Oahu Wedding and vendors, as long as it is within 12 months of your original wedding date. After 12 months, you will need to re-book your wedding entirely (via a new contract and retainer fee).
